In this episode we arrive by cruise ship at the spectacular Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal — one of the most impressive terminals we have visited during our round-the-world journey. Opened in 2023, the terminal itself already shows what modern Kaohsiung represents today: bold architecture, clean waterfront spaces, and a city that is constantly reinventing itself. Together with Grace, our local guide, we explored Pier-2 Art Center — a former industrial warehouse district turned into one of the most creative urban spaces in Taiwan. We also discovered: • Kaohsiung Music Center • Dagang Bridge (Great Harbor Bridge) • Taiwanese pineapple cakes • local food courts • scooter culture • everyday life by the waterfront One thing became clear very quickly — Kaohsiung is not just a port city. It is one of the most comfortable, modern and surprisingly welcoming cities we have visited in Asia. And perhaps most importantly — this city gave us something difficult to describe: the feeling of being welcome even when everything around us was completely new.
