Liberty Square Riverboat, Magic Kingdom Park [Secrets Uncovered] | Learn with Leap

The Liberty Square Riverboat opened October 2, 1971, the day after Magic Kingdom’s opening day. Walt Disney knew from the early days of planning Disneyland Park that he wanted to include a Mississippi steamboat for guests to cruise on. While the Liberty Belle is a fully functioning steamboat, it is guided by a steel beam track under the water so that it follows the same path each trip. The duration of the attraction is about 17 minutes, and with three observation decks, the riverboat can hold approximately 450 guests. While the Liberty Square Riverboat is not a thrilling ride, it's a fun break and provides a chance to see views of Tom Sawyer Island, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad from the water.
