Livorno, We regretted it.

Creator's Key Takeaways
I'm a little bit disgusted because if you can't walk from a port, I really believe that the shuttle should be free.
Livorno didn't offer a lot and tends to be the port for journeys into Pisa and Florence, but we were determined to see the beauty in Livorno.
It felt a bit run down and uncared for. And if you're deciding what to do on Livorno port day, I would suggest an excursion to the wine fields of Tuscany.
What an absolute embarrassment, but the staff went out of their way to make a spectacle and for that I am grateful.

I๐ฎ๐น Welcome to Day 4 of our Highlights of the Mediterranean cruise aboard Marella Discovery 2! Today we arrive in Livorno, Italy... but instead of following the crowds to Pisa or Florence, we decided to do something different and explore Livorno itself. Was that a mistake? ๐ค Join us as we show you exactly what it's like to visit Livorno independently, including the โฌ7 shuttle bus into town (a surprise considering there's no practical way to walk), and whether it's actually worth your time. Unfortunately, this turned out to be our most disappointing port of the cruise so far. We searched for hidden gems, wandered along the canals, and hoped to discover a side of Livorno that many visitors miss... but did it live up to expectations? ๐ It was also Dave's birthday! Watch his reaction to a surprise waiting in the cabin after breakfast, before the crew made sure his evening meal became one he'll never forget! The evening didn't improve much either, as the theatre featured returning guest entertainer "The Man They Call G." We'd seen him before and it wasn't really our style, although many of our fellow passengers clearly loved the show. Thankfully, the day finished on a much brighter note with delicious cocktails and another fantastic performance from the incredibly talented Reece. We'll also share an important tip for anyone visiting Livorno. During our visit we heard that one passenger had their bag stolen by a cyclist, so it's worth staying aware of your surroundings if you're exploring independently. Would we recommend exploring Livorno on your own? Or would your time be better spent booking an excursion to Pisa or Florence... or simply enjoying a quieter day onboard while everyone else heads ashore? Watch until the end for our honest verdict. ๐ If you enjoy honest cruise reviews and travel tips, please give the video a LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and turn on the notification bell so you don't miss the next episodes of our Mediterranean adventure. ๐ข Coming next: We visit the incredible ports of Civitavecchia (Rome) and Ajaccio, Corsica... and trust us, things get much better from here! ๐ฌ Have you visited Livorno?
