Mt Fuji is a must-see destination for anyone traveling to Japan. There are several ways to travel there from Tokyo. I joined a motorcoach excursion through Sunrise Tours, which was billed as a full-day Mt Fuji and Hakone tour. The group gathered at the Keio Plaza Hotel in the Shinjuku Ward of Tokyo and drove for 2.5 hours to Mt Fuji. The itinerary was to visit Mt. Fuji, eat lunch, cruise Lake Ashi, and take the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway. The itinerary changed slightly due to high winds, so the Komagatake Ropeway was exchanged for a different one. After the tour, we were taken to the train station and rode a Shinsanken train back to Tokyo Station. Mt Fuji is certainly a majestic site and the surrounding area is equally gorgeous. For Senior & Solo Travelers: It was a simple and safe excursion, with only slight elevations and moderate walking.
