Creator's Key Takeaways

Come with us as we explore this amazing, beautiful, dazzling, and slightly expensive island city.

It's a random pile of rocks with a view and context.

Is it practical? Not really. Is it beautiful? Annoyingly, yes.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Take the free shuttle from the old port into the heart of town instead of walking due to traffic and lack of walkways.
Check your ship's tender and shuttle schedule carefully if staying out late at night.
Visit the windmills early or very late to avoid crowds.

Mykonos is one of the easiest Greek islands to explore from a cruise ship, especially if your cruise stays overnight. In this video, we visit Mykonos from Virgin Voyages and show what you can realistically do in one cruise stop, from the tender and shuttle process to Mykonos Town, Little Venice, the famous windmills, shopping, lunch, and late-night drinks. On this cruise, we tendered into the Mykonos Old Port, where Virgin Voyages provided a free shuttle into town. From there, we explored the closest town beach, the Kastro area, Panagia Paraportiani, Little Venice, Kato Mili windmills, the narrow whitewashed lanes of Mykonos Town, Notorious restaurant, Lena’s House Museum, and the shops around town. Because this was an overnight cruise stop, we returned later at night to see a completely different side of Mykonos. Most of the daytime cruise crowds were gone, restaurants were still full, the bars were active, and we ended up spending most of the night at Jackie O’, one of the best-known LGBTQ+ nightlife spots in Mykonos. This video is for cruise passengers trying to figure out whether Mykonos is easy to do on your own, whether you need an excursion, what to expect from the tender process, what to see near town, and whether the overnight stay is worth taking advantage of.
