It is our first full day on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam and it’s time for dinner and some nightlife. We decide on the buffet for dinner because they are having an amazing surf & turf dinner with so many cuts of meat and seafood to choose from. We were very happy with our choice as everything we tried was great. Then it is show time! HAL has a unique theater in that you are surrounding the stage but you have digital screens surrounding you, so the show is all around you. This was a dance group who took a variety of musical styles and combined them with dance and screen projections, that were even on the floor! Watch the rain and the paint!! The heart of the ship is the Music Walk and we bounced back and forth between two of the venues tonight. The Rolling Stone Rock Room has a live rock band every night! They are fun and they are loud... not what you would expect on a ‘geriatric’ cruise huh?? And right across is Billboard Onboard which is the dueling piano bar.
