No weight gain challenge
Description from YouTube
Hey cruisers, I’m Sheri with Cruise Tips TV. I’ve been pondering a crazy concept for about a year now. Is it humanly possible to go on a cruise without gaining any weight? Cruises are known for being decadent, offering food and drink options at every corner, right? And who wants to deprive themselves on vacation? Well, I’ve been thinking long and hard about challenging myself to a no weight gain cruise, without any crazy gimmicks or extreme tactics, and I’ve come up with what I think will be a successful strategy. I’m hoping that YOU, our always-helpful subscribers can help me out with my plan, so get ready to leave some ideas in the comments. C’mon, I’m baring my soul here folks, help a girl out. Back to the plan. Am I going to hit the gym every day? Nope. Will I skip my favorite meals? Nuh-uh. I gave some thought to my standard calorie culprits on a cruise and usually it’s a combination of indulgences- a few cocktails here and there, a super rich dinner entrée, Carnival’s warm chocolate melting cake, and of course, that “the buffet looks amazing and I’m going to try a little bit of everything!” thing that happens to just about every cruiser. Admit it – you know the feeling. Back on track. Here’s my 3-point game plan: Number 1- take lots of steps! I wear a garmin vivo fit every day anyway, and on a normal day, my goal is to walk about 10,000 steps. On a cruise though, I find I usually walk about double that, so I’m going to challenge myself to 20,000 steps per day. Yah, that’s about 8 miles a day, but it's doable, and on a short cruise, I don't like to pack gym clothes and spend my time on a treadmill, so I’m committing! Number 2- Cruises offer SO many food options, and when I think about what I really love to eat, it’s usually centered around appetizers, seafood and veggies. If I can avoid things like shrimp fettucine alfredo, I think the seafood or protein and veggie and strategy will probably work for me. After all, shrimp cocktail, a green salad and a piece of salmon sounds like the perfect dinner. I'll just have to take it easy on those pre dinner rolls with butter. Number 3- No elevators unless I’m in my formal night shoes! Our family already has an unwritten rule that we take the stairs when we cruise. Yah, it’s a thigh burner, but it’s a great way to build your strength and stamina, and our 7 year old son LOVES racing us to the next floor. Guess who wins? Not me. So, what do YOU think about this crazy concept? Share your thoughts, and stay tuned for a follow up video to see if I live up to the challenge or, bust a button! Until next time, we’ll see you on the high seas!
