Northern Lights in Alaska: Gear, Tips & What Aurora Hunters Must Know

we did see some very faint Northern Lights last night but the problem was the moon was Rising full moon right over that hill and then the glare from the Moon reflecting off the snow made it very difficult to see

I've got on long underwear or thermals tops and bottoms more fleece on top over that is going to go gortex pants got the heavy duty boots North Face jacket hat everything else

you need a wide angle lens a tripod and here's the rest of the paraphernalia two pairs of gloves hats

this makes five nights in a row that we've had hardly any sleep and that I've basically slept in these lovely clothes because you have to be prepared to run out and go see them if they do make an appearance
