This island used to be an industrial sand mine. Today it's Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve — MSC Cruises' private island in the Bahamas, and the second stop on our 7-night MSC Seashore cruise. Instead of stopping at the first beach off the gangway like most passengers, we walked the entire length of the island — about a mile to Bimini Beach on the north end, where the crowds completely disappear. Along the way: the $30 beach chair breakdown, a live conch shell while snorkeling, the room-card problem nobody warns you about, the crew village, and the behind-the-scenes corridor most passengers never see on the walk back aboard.
