Odyssey of the Seas: Main Dining Room Tour (4K)

When the Quantum Class was introduced it brought with it a new style of dining known as Dynamic Dining. With this new concept a new design for the main dining room was required. Gone was the large dining room spanning 3 decks and in it's place was a set of four uniquely themed dining rooms. Each one themed around a different style of food to create four specialty dining style complimentary venues for guests to rotate through each night of the sailing. This new concept led to additional work for the guests and confusion causing it to eventually be abandoned. The four unique venues remained as more ships continued to be built, but they operated as a single main dining room offering a different menu each night, but the same in each venue. With the launch of the Spectrum of the Seas as the first of the Ultra Quantum Class ships the design was finally updated to remove The Grande, Chic, American Icon Grill, and Silk. In it's place was a single venue spanning two levels, one less than the other large ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet. To counter that the ceiling was removed creating a 3 level space that includes The Rotunda above it. This opened The Via with views from deck 5 down to deck 3 in the Main Dining Room creating a much more open space. When Odyssey of the Seas set sail as the second in the Ultra Quantum Class not much carried over from her sister, but the one item that did was the massive main dining room.
