We didn’t book an excursion in Tortola… and we’re so glad we didn’t.Here’s how our unplanned day on P&O Arvia turned into one of the highlights of our Caribbean cruise. As we didn’t book any ship excursions, we instead decided to explore independently. After getting off the ship, we found a local taxi and experienced the "exciting" journey over the hills and headed to the beautiful Cane Garden Bay. Be warned, the taxi ride is not for the faint hearted, but so worth it! While there, we stumbled across a small rum distillery offering an unbelievable deal: five half-shots of rum for just $1....easily one of the best bargains of the trip! On the way back, we took time to wander around the port area, soaking up the atmosphere and checking out the many bars before heading back onboard P&O Arvia. The evening finished perfectly with a fantastic meal at Sindhu, followed by drinks and entertainment in the Clubhouse, a brilliant end to an unexpected but memorable day in Tortola.
