Creator's Key Takeaways

I remember coming out of the doors around here on the side here and saying to my mom, 'Mom, I work right across the street from the White House.' How cool was that? Very cool.

We were down here that day and it was exciting. We of course were not in this area. There were special tickets to get into this area, but we were downtown on Pennsylvania Avenue watching the parade.

I'm glad that he had me. He had me be born in the United States. I'm getting kind of choked up because it's just amazing to me that we can just be right here and the White House over my shoulder there.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

This footage was filmed in January 2013, days after President Obama’s inauguration. I’m sharing it now because some places—and memories—never lose their meaning. I’m walking along the portion of the inaugural parade route that runs directly in front of the White House, just before the reviewing stand where the President would have stood. While there’s no parade footage here, you’ll see the street itself, the surrounding buildings, and something most people never notice—the security setup that allows only police and authorized vehicles to pass through. As I’m talking, you’ll actually see a police car approach and the metal security barriers lower into the ground, then rise again once the vehicle passes. It’s one of those everyday DC moments that feels quietly fascinating when you witness it in real time. I also share a personal memory about my very first job when I moved to Washington, DC—working at a bank directly across from the White House—and how I excitedly called my mom to tell her I worked “across the street from the White House.” It still makes me smile. The video ends with a moment of reflection, standing in the same spot, feeling grateful, blessed, and proud to be a citizen of the United States of America. Thank you for walking with me through this small but meaningful slice of history. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸 And please be kind in the comments. This is a reflection of one if my most cherished memories. It is not meant to illicit a political debate. @washingtondc @WhiteHouse —————————— Be sure to Subscribe. Like. Comment Thank You.
