Ovation of the Seas: Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier Sailing on May 21st, 2019
YouTube Video Descriptionโ
On May 21st the Ovation of the Seas made her inaugural visit to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. Sailing on a special 11 night Alaskan Glacier route this was her sixth port of call, the second sailing day. Arriving in the early morning the Ovation of the Seas was required to go silent with all guests advised to limit their volume on outdoor decks, all PA announcements limited to internal spaces, and no audio playing throughout the ship to preserve the natural environment. After 2 hours of sailing around corner after corner through ice filled waters the Ovation of the Seas finally reached the Dawes Glacier. Spending enough time at the glacier to do a full spin for everyone to get a view she set sail back through the arm again. At noon when clear of the protected waters she was able to resume normal sailing practices. This video was filmed in the morning on 5/21/19 while sailing through Endicott Arm to see Dawes Glacier. 11 Night May 13th, 2019 Alaskan Glacier Sailing Itinerary: Day 1: Vancouver, BC (5/13/19 Departing 8:00 PM) Day 2: Day at Sea (5/14/19) Day 3: Day at Sea (5/15/19) Day 4: Icy Strait Point, Alaska (5/16/19 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM) Day 5: Sitka, Alaska (5/17/19 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) Day 6: Hubbard Glacier [Sailing] (5/18/19 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM) Day 7: Juneau, Alaska (5/19/19 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM) Day 8: Skagway, Alaska (5/20/19 from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM) Day 9: Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier [Sailing] (5/21/19 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM) Day 10: Day at Sea (5/22/19) Day 11: Day at Sea (5/23/19) Day 12: Seattle, WA (5/24/19 from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
