Join us on this Pompeii Tour as we visit the Ruins of Pompeii on a very wet and rainy day which actually made this a great and at times very funny day. In this Italy travel guide we travel from Sorrento Italy on a train bound for Naples Italy to show you this ancient Roman city near modern Napoli, in the Campania region of Italy. Pompeii was destroyed by volcanic ash and pumice during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, and we took a train from Sorrento station to see the ruins which are incredibly well preserved because they were buried quickly by volcanic ash and pumice. Whilst dry when we headed out by the time we arrived at Pompeii the showers had started and they got progressively worse as we toured the ruins, and it got to the point where we had to literally take shelter in a coffee shop which was like an oasis in the middle of the ruins. The rain did eventually let up and we got to see the famous bodies in Pompeii but we didn't find the brothel in Pompeii unfortunately, but did see the bodies found in Pompeii and some of the preserved Roman artefacts.
