In this video, we dive into the rich culture, bold flavors, and unforgettable traditions of this Caribbean gem through an MSC excursion called “Local Flavors and Traditions.” 🔥 It was hot and humid, so make sure to stay hydrated if you're planning this excursion! 🚌 We started in the city center, with our first stop at La Aurora Cigar Factory, where we learned about the tobacco-growing process and how premium Dominican cigars are made. 🎶 In the city square, we experienced traditional music, dancing, and colorful costumes from local performers. We also visited the historic San Felipe Cathedral and stopped by a shop for rum tasting and Jon's first Presidente beer (he loved it!). 📸 We took photos at Pink Street and Umbrella Street, two of Puerto Plata’s most iconic Instagram spots. Then we snacked on delicious empanadas before heading to a local restaurant to enjoy an authentic Dominican lunch. 🍫 We also got a sweet surprise—learning the history of cocoa and chocolate production, followed by even more rum tasting (Jon had a few extra shots 😅). 🌴 Back on the ship, it was Tropical Night!
