On 15 March 2020, Queen Mary 2’s 2020 world voyage has been cancelled. The ship was safely alongside in Fremantle, Western Australia. Cunard's QM2 arrived on 14 March as the last leg of her Australian circumnavigation. Much of this voyage was a last minute addition after the cancellation of her 2020 Asian itinerary in late February – there’s a link to a video I made about that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkTpOe93qJo Cunard Queen Elizabeth’s cruises are also being disrupted, with the ship having returned to Sydney and her 15 March cruise cancelled. The global cruise industry is entering into an unprecedented situation; with cruise lines worldwide shutting down operations for 30 to 60 day periods. This includes a variety of lines, such as Princess Cruises, Disney, Carnival, P&O Australia, Fred Olsen and Viking Cruises. Cunard have been closely watching the unfolding situation, with Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth both diverted from their original world cruise itineraries to stay in the relative safety of Australian waters. With travel restrictions tightening, and the Australian Government recommending gatherings of over 500 people be curtailed, the Australian cruise industry is now being impacted by this unfolding global situation. Queen Victoria has been undertaking a circumnavigation of South America. The ship is currently at sea on her way to Fort Everglades.
