Our first day in Rio de Janeiro was nothing like we imagined. 🇧🇷 After hearing warnings about safety risks, we stayed cautious — Lanette removed her watch and jewelry before leaving the ship. 🛳️ We left in a group of eight — four men and four women — and headed toward the festivities. 🎉 Sadly, one of our group members was accosted by a young man from a group of about twelve. He yanked a meaningful necklace from her neck, shoved her, and challenged us aggressively. 💔 The women in their group were especially confrontational. We quickly backed away and found a nearby bar with security outside, where we felt somewhat safe. 🍻 After regrouping, we returned to the ship. 📵 We didn’t feel safe enough to film publicly after the incident. Later, we learned that several others from our ship were also robbed — including someone in a wheelchair. 😔 Stay alert if you’re visiting Rio.
