YouTube Video Descriptionβ
In August of 1995, Peter Knego made his first trek to the Vancouver region to visit the PRINCE GEORGE, the former Canadian National liner that was laid up at Britannia Beach. While there, he documented the procession of cruise ships departing Vancouver. On August 13, the S.S. UNIVERSE, looking pristine, led the pack on one of her final sailings before being broken up in India. The 1943-built tug SEASPAN CHINOOK, which since sank at her moorings in Britannia Beach, followed. Next, Royal Caribbean's LEGEND OF THE SEAS represented the newest and largest ship in the parade, which concluded with the grandest and most historic, Holland America Line's S.S. ROTTERDAM of 1959, now thankfully preserved as a floating hotel and attraction at Rotterdam. #ssrotterdam #classicships #ssuniverse #ssatlantic #alang #royalcaribbean #legendoftheseas #vancouver #halcruises
