I think the first and third itineraries are more suitable for seniors. Also, there are "hop on, hop off" buses and plenty of other public transportation. If you aren't into walking, I would suggest that. Solo travelers: I felt very safe wandering around on my own, but I did avoid areas that were known to have safety problems, such as the Tenderloin and Mission Districts. I also did not stay during the evening, but took day trips into the city from Burlingame (link above).
