Periodic announcements, dinner, and a final announcement that we would do a shore landing at 8:30p. Ny Alesund in Kongsfjorden, now a scientific community of 169 people in the summer (which drops to 39 in winter). It also has the northernmost Post Office, Gift Shop and North Pole Hotel in the World. This 24 kilometer/14 mile fjord is where Roald Amundsen attempted to fly over the North Pole in a dirigible!
