Seattle Before or After an Alaska Cruise? Is Pike Place Market Worth the Walk?

Creator's Key Takeaways
One thing we learned pretty quickly, don't just follow the crowd. It's really easy to walk right past an entrance or staircase and miss an entire section of the market.
The beef jerky definitely on the uh pricey side, but I'll tell you, it's delicious.
It's colorful, creative, and a little disgusting. You can add your own piece, but I'd bring some hand sanitizer and be careful where you lean.
If seeing a fish fly is on your Seattle list, you may need to hang around for a few minutes and keep your camera ready.

Looking for things to do in Seattle before or after an Alaska cruise? We walked from the Renaissance Seattle Hotel to Pike Place Market, where we watched the famous Pike Place Market fish toss, explored the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and continued down to the Seattle waterfront—all without needing a car. We had just finished our Alaska cruise on the Star Princess and checked into the Renaissance Seattle Hotel at 515 Madison Street. Instead of staying in the room, we headed out on foot to see how much of downtown Seattle we could explore in one day. Inside Pike Place Market, we sampled smoked king salmon, tried several flavors of jerky at Don & Joe’s Meats and visited MarketSpice. We also found the Daily Dozen Doughnut Company, Umai Sushi & Teriyaki and some of the Market’s many hidden hallways, stairways and lower levels. From there, we headed into Post Alley, passed the tiny—and possibly haunted—Ghost Alley Espresso and visited Seattle’s colorful, creative and slightly disgusting Gum Wall. After meeting Rachel and Billy the Piggy Banks, we continued through Pike Place Market to Sound View Café, explored the produce and seafood stands and eventually reached the waterfront. With a cruise ship docked nearby and views across the water, we stopped at Old Stove Brewing for locally brewed Seattle beer and chicken wings. This Seattle walking tour shows what you can realistically experience before or after an Alaska cruise, including Pike Place Market crowds, steep downtown hills, local food, historic attractions, waterfront views and a few unexpected moments along the way. Would you spend your extra day in Seattle exploring Pike Place Market and the waterfront, or would you head somewhere else? #Seattle #PikePlaceMarket #AlaskaCruise #SeattleWaterfront #GumWall ❤️ Love Traveling with Us?
