Seattle, WA: Friday May 24th Cruise Ship Departures (Celebrity Solstice & Ovation of the Seas)

The Alaskan market has become bigger than ever with some of the largest ships in the industry making their way to the region. With so much demand the just three ports have to handle the turn arounds with Seattle handling the majority of the round trip sailings. On Friday May 24th the largest ship to ever sail Alaskan waters completed her inaugural sailing with her debut in her new home port of Seattle Washington. Docked at the Smith Cove Terminal directly across pier 91 from her and sharing the same loading area was the Celebrity Solstice. I visited the Space Needle to see the sights of the city, but it also offers incredible views of the harbor creating a great place to watch the departures. Unfortunately both ships were delayed for the evening. The Celebrity Solstice eventually made her departure, but the Ovation of the Seas was delayed until after I left the Space Needle.
