Should YOU visit Sleeping Bear Dunes??? (National Lakeshore) Full Time RVing

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is in the Northwest portion of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It hugs the northeast shore of Lake Michigan and includes South and North Manitou islands. The park is known for the huge scalable dunes of the Dune Climb. Any time you are visiting a National Park or in this case a National Lakeshore, it’s best to start at the visitor center to get a map and information for the best visit. Also, this area doesn’t show up on GPS with the exception of the visitor center so they provide a turn by turn map to help you navigate. A must do here is the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive! The twisting turns of the drive itself are beautiful… but here is where you will find the incredible overlooks! One especially is where the dune drops all the way down, over 350 feet, to Lake Michigan! It’s truly a sight to see. Some are brave enough to go all the way down… getting down isn’t the problem, it’s getting back up that is!! Even though you can climb the dunes at the overlook, there is an actual dune climb… not as steep but still a challenge… but we did it!
