--~-- Texas Vaccine Law 2021. Carnival announced that their ships would sail from Galveston as long as the passengers were vaccinated, and Texas passed a law like Florida's banning cruise lines from requiring vaccination passports. Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation that prohibits any business operating in the state from requiring so-called “vaccine passports” or asking for proof of inoculation. It is similar in tone and intent to a law put in place by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is embroiled in a lawsuit with the Centers for Disease Control which could have, as we have discussed, a major impact on his state’s cruise industry. Carnival doesn't seem too worried because The law provides exceptions for when a business is implementing COVID protocols in accordance with federal law which is consistent with Carnival's plans to comply with the CDC guidelines. Currently, both upcoming Galveston sailings, as well as Carnival Miracle Alaska sailing, are requiring COVID vaccinations.
