The epicurean is one of the staple speciality dining options on P&O cruises. Trailed as a “classic British dining experience” the focus is on providing a sensuous dining experience appealing in both presentation as well as taste and flavours. The cost is £28pp and this excludes drinks. It is very popular and is best to book in advance, even in advance of your cruise via the P&O My Holiday portal with reservations possible 14 days prior to embarkation date. The Epicurean is available on most of the P&O fleet and this video features our most recent experience on P&O Iona. Set on Deck 17 port side the restaurant is immediately adjacent to the classy crows nest bar and can accessed directly or via the bar. The setting is bright and airy with gorgeous views out over the seas as you dine. The menus generally follow a similar theme on all ships with a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. And the dining experience starts with an amuse bouche served with a selection of fresh and slightly warm breads with both marmite butter and salted butter. There is a good selection of wines is available but not included in the £28 paid. There is a fine selection of Starters to choose from before tucking in to the main courses. Then a pallet cleanser is served before desert. Finally coffee / tea and chocolates are served. The whole dining experience lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours and is an extremely pleasant way to spend an evening as you sail to your next destination. So how would we rate our dining experience in the Epicurean on Iona ? Well watch this video to find out.
