The 'LINDUM FAYRE', 'VSOE LUNCHEON SPECIAL' & 'CAPITAL STREAK' - 07/12/2013
YouTube Video Description↓
One of the busy Saturdays leading up to Christmas saw three steam-hauled excursions in London on December 7th 2013. The first of these was the Railway Touring Company's 'LINDUM FAYRE' from London King's Cross to Lincoln and return hauled by BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70013 "Oliver Cromwell" who was substituting for LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.60009 "Union of "South Africa" which was unavailable. The train is seen arriving ECS at King's Cross behind BR Class 47 'Brush' Co-Co No.47580 "County of Essex" before storming up through Finsbury Park. The second trip was one of the regular 'VSOE LUNCHEON SPECIALS' from London Victoria to the Surrey Hills and back with BR(S) rebuilt 'Merchant Navy'-class 4-6-2 No.35028 "Clan Line", though the tour ran into trouble just outside Victoria when the assisting class 67 diesel failed and had to be uncoupled resulting in the train returning to Victoria around 45 minutes late. The trip is seen departing and later returning at Victoria. Finally, the heavily rescheduled 'CAPITAL STREAK' from York to King's Cross with LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.4464 "Bittern" was run today (having been postponed twice from July and August due to hot weather). The train is seen at King's Cross (it stopped short so no arrival shot) before being taken out ECS.
