I recently started tracking the number of views that 24 different YouTube channels about cruising got each month. I thought it would be interesting to see which channels are getting huge numbers of views each month, and which channels are struggling. The 24 channels I tracked were: Life Well Cruised La Lido Loca Emma Cruises Royal Caribbean Blog Cruise News Today Don's Family Vacations Cruise With Ben And David Tips For Travelers Eat Sleep Cruise Bright Sun Travels The Travel Scouts Harr Travel The Shiplife Views And Queues EECC Travels Jim Zim Paro DeeJay Travel Spree JJCruise Solo Cruise & Travel Cruise Tips TV Very unOfficial Travel Guides Chris Wong Vlogs Jason & Heidi's Popular Cruising Going in to the project, I had some ideas about which channels I thought were getting way more views than the others... and of course, I was right about some, and way off about others! The most surprising part was to see that there were a few channels that I had always thought of as reasonably successful who are actually getting so few views that I have to wonder how long they will be able to continue. I don't spend much time in the video on those struggling channels, though. The main focus is on the ones who are getting LOTS of views. Are you surprised by the numbers for any of these channels? Which channel is your favorite? Are there any you just can't stand? Leave a comment and let me know! The methodology I used to compile these numbers was fairly simple. On March 1st I looked at the YouTube home page of each of the channels, and wrote down the total number of views that channel has received over its lifetime. (The number is viewable buy clicking on "more" on the home tab of the channel on YouTube.) Then I waited for a month to pass, and went back to see the new number of lifetime views each channel had. By simply subtracting the first number from the second number, I know how many views each channel got during the month. I don't know if I will continue keeping track of these numbers in the months ahead. Do you think I should? Are you interested in seeing monthly updates?
