The 'WORCESTER CHRISTMAS MARKET' with No.60009 "Union of South Africa" - 29/11/2014
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
Following the 'CHRISTMAS MARKET' excursion to Bath, the Railway Touring Company ran another excursion - this time to Worcester on Saturday 29th November 2014. Running from London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill via Oxford on the outward run and via Swindon on the return, the motive power was originally meant to be either GWR 6000-class 'King' 4-6-0 No.6023 "King Edward II" or BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia". Neither loco would be available in time for various reasons, so the job was given to LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.60009 "Union of South Africa". In this video, the outward leg is seen on the final approach to Worcester Shrub Hill before moving off at a very slow pace (I've cut four coaches out to shorten a long clip). The return is seen at in the dark at Stonehouse.
