This white water trip went completely wrong – Here's what happened

We booked a white-water rafting trip for 6 of us, so we got our own boat. We were told that it was going down basic water like class 1 and the small kids would be fine. This was back in 2011 and up in Northern California there was a lot of rain. We didn’t know it at the time but a couple of people would lose their lives on this same river. It started off pretty good and we were all excited about doing this. But as we started going down it didn’t seem like our guide was directing us very well. We went into multiple trees and then some major rapids even though they don’t look all that big in the video. The video is taken on an old camera; it was in 2011 and we didn’t have digital. About 15 mins into this trip, we went down the wrong side of the river and the raft flipped. Everyone went into the water except the guide. He did manage to pull our youngest daughter up right away. The other 5 of us were swept down the rapids. My buddy’s wife and I got picked up by the other raft. My wife and son were picked up by our raft. My buddy who is filming was taken down river as you will see in the full video. After going back and watching all the video and putting things together, we were not supposed to be on that side of the river. We never saw another boat go to that side before or after. When we got back, we saw someone pull out guide to the side and it looked like they were not happy with him. Overall, it’s a story no one will ever forget and we all ended up safe.
