The exact date has not yet been released, but it's expected to be in effect in the 2nd quarter! In brief: All visitors who previously travelled visa-free to Europe and the Schengen area (such as from the UK, US, Canada, Australia etc) may need an approved ETIAS to enter any ETIAS member country such as France, Germany, Italy and Spain etc The application is completed online. It will be processed within 96hrs. Passengers data will be checked against a variety of European and international databases, including no fly lists, to identify potential terrorist and criminal threats who will then be refused entry via the ETIAS program. The cost is 7 Euros and is free for applicants under the age of 18 and over 70 (you still need to apply). ETIAS is valid for three years or until passport expires, whichever is sooner.
