Buenos Aires won me over! What a charming, historic and interesting city. We were there two days and we explored as many highlights as possible with the Buenos Aires City Bus hop on hop off and a private day tour and group night tour. The Hop on Hop off goes by so many of the main sights and is 3 1/2 hours long! The best place to start is the Plaza de Mayo, a city square with important buildings and the site of the city's foundation. It is where the revolution started and celebrates Argentina's independence from Spain. Important buildings include Casa Rosada the government house, Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral (one-time home to now Pope Francis), and Cabildo, the former seat of the Colonial Government. Casa Rosada is possibly most famous for the balcony where Eva Peron, Evita, addressed the crowds. Other city sights include The gardens - there are so many, but we visited the Rose Garden. The Japanese Garden is very popular La Bombonera - home to Argentina football Teatro Colon - a gorgeous theatre Punta de la Mujer - The Woman's Bridge Obelisco - The obelisk of Buenos Aires Torre de Los Ingleses - English clock tower Floralis Generica - a large flower sculpture that opens and closes with the sun Caminto - a lively community in La Boca famous for vividly painted houses. Our guide said the owners couldn't afford paint, so they'd ask for leftover paint from the boats at the pier creating an eclectic neighbourhood. Recoleta Cemetery - Resting place of many of Argentina's celebrities and politicians, most well-known for Eva Peron's (Evita) gravesite. The different neighbourhoods are all well worth a visit There are many museums to visit too Buenos Aires is called 'The Paris of South America' and it has a partial-European feel but is a unique city with so much to offer a visitor. The people are lovely, the empanadas delicious and I hope to visit again some day. I absolutely loved it and fell for its charms! #buenosaires #argentina #travel https://www.bensound.com/free-music-for-videos Chapters 00:00 Introduction 00:17 Welcome to Buenos Aires 01:58 Plaza de Mayo 03:12 Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral 04:32 Jose San Martin Mausoleum 05:54 Buenos Aires Highlights 07:32 Rose Garden 08:52 Evita at Recoleta Cemetery 09:35 Caminito Neighbourhood 11:10 Buenos Aires at Night 11:45 Leaving Buenos Aires
