http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com A big plus to visiting Sevastopol was where the Viking Lomonosov was docked; within walking distance to all the important city monuments as well as along the Black Sea. The Black Sea is bounded by Europe, Anatolia (Turkey), Caucasus; connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the , Mediterranean and various straits. We drove by a bay that the Russians lease from Ukraine and a Russian sub could be seen. The bus tour ended back along the shore where guide Olga pointed out places of interest before ending this included tour. During the Crimean War of 1853-1856, the Russians scuttled 15 ships at the entrance to the harbor to keep out invaders and a monument commemorates that event. The entire harbor area looked like a mini-amusement park with rides, food stalls and restaurants.
