Creator's Key Takeaways

I loved it. Now of course I would have loved a veranda.

We never heard anything beside us from that crew area.

We did hear sloshing noises from the water since we're at water level, but it was kind of a lulling noise.

The window height was good. I'm 53 and I could stand at the window and be comfortable looking at the view.

Creator's Tips & Advice

βœ“Use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth due to reverse osmosis water on the ship.
βœ“Pack a fan and an adapter for charging devices.
βœ“Leave magnetic hooks at home as walls are not magnetic on river cruise ships.
βœ“Be dressed appropriately when opening curtains if docked landside.

Cabin location under reception area and near crew spaces β€” No noise issues were experienced; crew area was quiet.
Lack of floor-to-ceiling windows or balcony β€” Window height is comfortable for viewing; veranda rooms have less seating.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description↓

The standard cabin on a Viking Nile River Cruise ship is the lowest priced cabin, but will the savings be worth the trade off in comfort and enjoyment? We booked a guarantee standard cabin (which means the cruise line assigns the cabin close to time of sailing) and were assigned cabin 111 on the Viking Hathor. Since all the newest Viking Nile River ships have the same layout, this video will also be applicable to anyone booking on the Viking Amun, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, Viking Thoth, Viking Osiris which are currently sailing as well as the Viking Ptah, Viking Anubis, Viking Geb and the Viking Sekhme which are ships that are scheduled to be built in the coming years. I will explain my concerns pre-cruise when discovering our room location on the deck plan, and I will address those concerns in the video. What would the view be like from those little windows? Will it be a noisy location? What about the sounds of the water since we are actually below water level? And then after we board, do the Viking website descriptions actually meet our expectations? I will show you around the cabin, the outlet placement, what toiletries are included, and yes, there is a hair dryer.
