YouTube Video Description↓

http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Arguably, the major sight in the Sevastopol area is Bachtschisari/Bakhchisary, the Khan's Palace of Hansaray. Built in the 16th century by Russian and Ukrainian slaves for Crimean Tatars, this palace is a popular destination for locals as well as tourists. Crimean Tatars were a Turkish ethnic group who came from Mongolia. Bachtschisarai became their capital from 1441-1783 because it was located at an intersection of trade routes which resulted in great wealth for them. During World War II, the predominantly Muslim population of Bachtschisarai was forced to relocate to Uzbekistan but returned under Ukraine's last President and now make up a big percentage of the population.
