Our eight-day Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing was over, and we thought getting off QM2 in Southampton would be the easy part. We were very wrong. 😳 What should have been a straightforward UK Border Force inspection quickly turned into complete chaos aboard Queen Mary 2. Hundreds of passengers were trying to figure out where the immigration queue actually started, where it ended and even which direction they were supposed to be going. At one point, passengers who had already completed the inspection appeared to become mixed with people who were still waiting. People around us were getting frustrated, some were worried about missing their trains, and even finding the end of the queue became an adventure. We've disembarked Queen Mary 2 in Southampton before, but we had never experienced anything quite like this. Eventually an announcement was made asking passengers for patience while the UK Border Force inspection continued — but by then the situation aboard QM2 had already become what we could only describe as a complete free-for-all. Would we actually get off Queen Mary 2 in time to make our train from Southampton Central?
