One incredible city, and a full PORT day! Join us as we step off the Royal Princess at Pier 27 and explore San Francisco’s waterfront, neighborhoods, history, and sweet spots — all in a single port day! With the ship docked right in the heart of the city, we laced up our sneakers and followed the scenic Embarcadero — the historic roadway that hugs the bay. Along the way, we passed Pier 35 and headed straight for Pier 39, where the famous sea lions and seals lounge, bark, and sunbathe just steps from bustling shops and eateries. Did you know they first showed up after the 1989 earthquake and never left? We continued past Pier 41 and Pier 43, right into the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf — one of the most iconic waterfronts in the U.S. This area once served the fishing fleets of Italian immigrants in the late 1800s, and it still holds onto that maritime charm today. Next, we headed toward Ghirardelli Square, home to the legendary chocolate company founded during the Gold Rush in 1852. Naturally, we couldn’t resist a sweet treat! From there, we saw the twists and turns of Lombard Street, often called “the crookedest street in the world,” with its eight sharp hairpin turns lined with flowers and postcard views. Then it was off to North Beach, San Francisco’s Little Italy. This lively neighborhood has roots dating back to the late 1800s and is filled with cozy cafés, old churches, and Beat Generation history. We walked through the colorful lanterns and hidden alleys of Chinatown, the oldest in North America and home to over 300 restaurants. We even wandered down Broadway, with its mix of theaters, nightlife, and classic San Francisco edge. Before heading back to the ship, we passed the Exploratorium, a hands-on science and art museum located right on the Embarcadero. Even if you don’t go inside, the exterior is a great place for views and people-watching. This video captures more than just a walk — it’s a snapshot of San Francisco’s culture, energy, and eclectic beauty.
