WHAT IS MSC PRIVATE ISLAND OCEAN CAY LIKE?:MSC MERAVIGLIA welcomes us to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises' private island in the Bahamas! This island is part of the Bimini district in the western Bahamas. It is 20 miles south of Bimini and just 65 miles due east of Miami. MSC Ocean Cay is nature in its natural state. There are food, drinks, entertainment, watersports activities , tours and excursions! Beach chairs are provided, there are some umbrellas free-standing on the beach. You can also rent an umbrella, aqua mats, cabanas, snorkeling equipment, stand-up paddle boards and other beach equipment. If you want to do a wave runner or other tours that can be arranged for a fee. The island opened in December 2019 and can have up to 4 ships there at one time! It can hold 12,000 people! The development cost $200 million dollars and covers 95 acres with 1.5 miles of pristine beachfront. It is dotted with colorful structures, and beautiful beaches as well as a lighthouse. This use to be an industrial excavation site for sand. MSC restored the island by helping to restore the ecosystem, coral and revitalized the ocean beds. This is an ongoing effort with teams of experts, scientists etc. Guests on Ocean Cay are able to eat, drink, take part in excursions, as well as a fun night time Junkanoo Parade, bonfire with an LED lighthouse show and dance party on the beach.
