Creator's Key Takeaways

Wonderful plane. Great crew. mysterious food and wonderful destination.

I was flying premium economy, so I got a pillow, a blanket, and an amenity kit.

We didn't get to choose them, but they were great. Plenty of foot room for one thing.

I'm not real sure what I was served. I mean, I ate it. It counted as dinner, but it was unremarkable.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Be prepared for potential seat assignment restrictions when booking through cruise line air departments.
Expect to use stairs instead of jet bridges upon arrival in Papete.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

In December, 2025, I flew from Los Angeles to Pape ete in Tahiti to get ready for a Windstar Cruise. This video shows the flight. Overall, it was a good experience, with a great plane and crew. In the video, I make a couple of comments I'll explain a little more here. 1. The food was just ok, and it was labeled upon its arrival at the seat. But you know, it just wasn't particularly good, and I've had good airline food. 2. I made a comment about not getting to choose my seat. This is actually important to explain. The Windstar Air Department booked us from home to LAX on United, and then on Air Tahiti Nui. Those were booked as two different tickets, and also as tour group tickets. So we had to collect our bags and recheck them; we couldn't pick our own seats; and we couldn't do much with my United status. I also have a rant about Windstar Cruises that I may or may not post. The cruise itself and the ship itself were both GREAT, and videos about them are coming; however, there were specific issues with the pre- and post-cruise services that would startle anyone. Should I post about those?
