Hello Travelers, I am traveling solo on the brand new Discovery Princess cruise ship out of Los Angeles. This is her inaugural sailing, the first with paying passengers. She is a gorgeous ship, and I really enjoyed being able to sail on her. This video is from day 4 of our journey, and we stop at Mazatlan. I booked a City Highlights tour through the Princess app, and while we got into port a bit late due to fog limiting visibility, I was able to meet my tour once they cleared the ship through customs. They took us on a bus and we drove down a long stretch of the beach full of wonderful works of art on display. They stopped for the cliff divers, which lasted less than half an hour. We saw several people do the dive, which was fun to see. The divers get really close to the rocks, and so they must be very skilled not to hit the wrong place. The divers come back up and greet the tourists, hoping for tips, which is how they are making their money. There are also some vendors trying to sell you trinkets, but I saved my money for the divers. Then we got back on the bus and went to visit the Basilica Cathedral of Mazatlan. It is a Catholic cathedral, and our guide Alessandro shared some of the history. Apparently it took 40 years to complete (finished in 1899). The Jewish community helped them complete it, and so it has a Star of David on the second floor as a thank you. The pipe organ is from Spain. Then we were taken to the Golden Zone, and specifically to a store that sold silver. It was billed as βalmost a silver museumβ due to the high quality of craftsmanship. So the passengers are funneled off the bus and into this specific store. We are also told it is a bathroom break (the line for the ladies room was half the store and would have taken too long to be worth it unless it was urgent). They also offered a margarita. They gave us time to shop in the zone which had many jewelry stores, some souvenir stores, a few galleries and some bars and restaurants. Our last stop was a lighthouse that we could only see from a distance. You can book excursions to hike to the lighthouse, but keep in mind it would be a significant hike with a lot of uphill climbing to get there. You can see from the pictures I took how steep that hill is. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you donβt miss future content. I have more videos for this cruise, as well as future cruises booked through the rest of this year and beyond. Thanks for watching!
