YouTube Video Description

Hello Travelers, In August of 2023, I did my first full transit of the Panama Canal with Princess cruises. It was a 19 day cruise, the longest I had been on to date. This is day 7 of the cruise, and we are docked at Hualtco, a port I have not visited before. I booked a tour called “Huatulco City & Seafood Culinary Experience”, and we met at 10:30 in the Explorers lounge. Unfortunately, the ship was not so organized this time in getting us off the ship in an orderly fashion. They had too large a group going at the same time, and they only had one person checking people off the ship, so the line was long and slow moving. But eventually, we did make it, and the bus waited of course. The bus tour was well organized, and first we did a fast stop up in the hills to see the Hualtuco sign and a viewpoint. The stop was really only about 15 minutes tops, and it took us longer to drive up and back. Then we went over to a central spot where they parked the bus and we went on the walking portion of the tour. Each stop was about 2 blocks from the next, so it was an easy walk place to place. We started with Buen Mezcal, and had a tasting of several kinds of Mescal as well as some food items (including spiced crickets!). Many people bought some to take home with them, so it was quite popular. Then it was off to a hand crafts shop that had textiles and an array of hand crafted items. After that, we went to the Our Lady of Guadalupe church, where they had some really lovely paintings on the ceiling and walls and in the various nooks. After all our stops, they brought us back to the port, and into a restaurant that is part of the port complex. We had a celebrity chef doing demonstrations on how to cook each dish and then they would bring out some for us all to try. It was all very tasty, and a welcome relief from the heat in the air conditioning of the restaurant. After that, we were just right next to where you head up the dock to the ship, and that ended the day in port. Dinner was in the main dining room with the group of solo travelers again. After that was the production show called “Blame it on the Boogie” which was of course disco themed. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss future content.
