Hello Travelers, I am taking The Ocean train from Montreal to Halifax prior to boarding a fantastic new cruise. I woke up after a tough night’s sleep, and went to have breakfast. I had a cheese omelette that was fair. Lunch later was better. One word of advice if you are taking this train—bring any snacks you like to eat, because there does not seem to be a car with items for sale, as I have seen on other trains. As I mentioned before you will not have access to your luggage apart from the carryon you bring with you on board. I bought two tickets to have the entire sleeper car to myself, much as I would for a cruise. However, unlike a cruise, if you don’t do that, you run the risk of someone else buying the second ticket to your cabin. You may have an unexpected room mate. We finally arrived 2 hours past our scheduled arrival time, and it was already dark. We walked our carryons down the train platform and into a building where they had a luggage area to claim your bag(s). After that, it was out to the front of the building to get a ride to my hotel.
