Creator's Key Takeaways

it was really interesting so he took us up to the it's kind of on a very slight Hill and he took us up to the top and then let us walk back all the way down

we got really close to it and got to see it you know I think it's probably the closest I've gotten to a glacier so far

you can leave your belongings on the bus for both stops so that was really nice that was handy

YouTube Video Description

In July of 2023, I did my first Alaska cruise tour with Princess cruises. If you haven’t done one of these before, it is a bit different than just going on a cruise. This video is from the first day of the land portion of the cruise tour. I booked the Portage Glacier Tour, which also brought us to a Wildlife Conservation Center. This was a great excursion. The bus ride to the wildlife center was about an hour, and the drive was very pretty going through the Turnaround Arm. Once at the center, we were dropped at the top of a gentle hill and allowed to walk down the paths which take you by a series of habitats. We started at the top with the bears, which had a large area to roam around that included water. I saw several bears, and one walked right in front of us barely a few feet away. I also saw an array of wildlife, including elk, deer, moose and bison. There were a few raptors in the complex that also housed the gift shop at the end of the trails. After the wildlife center, we headed a short way to Portage Lake, which had been carved out by Portage Glacier. It was a beautiful lake, and the boat was glassed in on the bottom level and open on the top. We were able to get quite close to the glacier, which was beautiful. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss future content. I have more videos for this cruise, as well as future cruises booked through the rest of this year and beyond. Thanks for watching!
