Flying Alaska Airlines First Class in a Pandemic | San Francisco (SFO) - Seattle (SEA) | Trip Report

On September 10, 2021 I flew first class on Alaska Airlines from San Francisco (SFO) to Seattle (SEA). This is the first leg of my journey to cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas. Here is the trip report. Masks are required to be worn as soon as you are on airport property, throughout the flight, and until you exit the airport property at your arrival location. I arrived a little later to the terminal than I like. The long term parking air train stops at lots of places and took longer than I had hoped. All told I think I got to the Alaska checkin an hour before the flight. Checkin was fast and my big bag was half a pound under the weight limit. Phew!! TSA PreCheck made security fast and painless. The takeoff and landing was great. We hit a little turbulence coming into Seattle but not bad. The attendant initially gave me a cheese plate, but I had pre-ordered the protein plate. She noticed her mistake before I had touched it and made a quick swap. So I have pics of what both look like. The protein plate was good except for what I think was smoked salmon. It was too tough to even contemplate. There was a small bagel with garlic cream cheese, mixed nuts, grapes, apple slices and a boiled egg with herbs outside. All were tasty. The sky was just amazing the whole flight. High contrast clouds and the sun rising made for a beautiful takeoff. I still don’t know how we got there so fast. It was supposed to land at 10:10 am and we were there at 9:15 am. We left at 7:45 am. No speed limits in the air! There was lots of legroom and the seat was comfy. So nice to be in first after the Southwest flight. I like Alaska airlines. It is in my top two.
