Hello Travelers, In September 2023, I ended a 19 day Panama Canal cruise in New York City. I stayed several days after to see some of the sights, and this is a tour of my hotel room at the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport. When I heard about this hotel, I had to at least go see it and stay overnight on the property. It was so much fun to see all the old memorabilia from the golden age of flying. The hotel is quite unique, and it has some really fun features. So first, there is no bell service at this hotel, nobody to help you with your bags when you check in or check out. And it is a long walk to the rooms—you will see the red carpeted hall in the video that leads to the elevator bank. The carpet and my rolling bags do not get along well together, and getting them up that incline was a challenge. I did not travel light for this trip, since it was 19 days on the cruise and then several days after on land. I also had all my camera gear with me, so my bags were numerous and heavy. I felt like I had quite the workout after I made it to the room! The room itself was lots of fun, and I really enjoyed it. I had a view of the runway and the planes, although you couldn’t see it since I was there at night for the room tour. It also had a cafe area in the lobby, as well as some exhibits throughout. The music of the era is always playing on the hotel speakers to add to the ambiance. Once I checked out, it was an easy walk to the terminal from the hotel. The walkway is paved, so you just follow the signs and it is fairly easy to find your way. While I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, I would hesitate to stay there again just because of the luggage issue. Not having a bell service was a real challenge for me. If you have mobility issues, you may want to rethink this, as the lobby is on the ground floor, but there are two long steep ramps/hallways to get to the level with the elevators to the rooms. And the carpet makes it worse. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss future content. I have more videos for this cruise, as well as future cruises booked through the rest of this year and beyond. Thanks for watching!
