On August 21, 2021 I set sail on the Carnival Panorama for the restart of the west coast Mexico cruises. This is day 7 of the cruise, and last sea day of the cruise. As it was a sea day, I had a more leisurely pace to the day. I had my usual Eggs Benedict in the MDR, and then made my way to the aft of the ship to enjoy the aft pool and the ship’s wake. My favorite cabins are aft balconies, but a I did not have one this time, I had to make do with going to the pool deck aft instead. I had lunch in Guy’s Burgers, trying the Pig Patty for a change of pace. It was very flavorful and the fries were also quite good. I had been hearing loud booming noises from my cabin since the first sea day, and it was the sound of the waves hitting the hull of the ship. I would see sea spray out of the portholes near the same time, and it was clear that was the cause. Some of the waves must have been sizable, given the amount of noise and spray they generated, even though the sea seemed calm. I also had the sound of the hangers in the closet clacking together as an added bonus. As I wear my clothes, I pack the dirty ones into the same packing cubes I used to bring them. This means that by day 7 of the cruise, the hangers are largely empty. The noise they made was annoying, but I solved it by threading one of the provided beach towels through them and pulling it tight. They were quiet my last night after that. I had dinner at Cocina del Capitano, 11th floor aft across from JiJi’s. I had the Parmesan bread (standard). Arancini, the scaloppine marsala, and a crostata for dessert. My drink was a Creamsicle and it was very good. It came with this alternative straw that some of the bars were using on the ship. It isn’t made of paper or plastic, and it becomes gummy and pliable if you leave it in the drink for more than a few minutes (and who downs frozen drinks that fast?). I think, based on what other passengers said as well, that this straw material is not a hit with the cruisers.
