Hello Travelers, I boarded the Seabourn Odyssey on September 29, 2023 for my last cruise of the year. I had never sailed with Seabourn, and they are known as an ultra luxury line. I was very curious to see the differences in how they do things versus the main stream and even premium lines do. I was up bright and far too early to be ready for the Misty Fjords cruise tour I had booked (which was called β€œMisty Fjords & Wilderness Explorer Cruise”). I had breakfast delivered to my cabin, as has become my new standard way to starting the day on this line. As usual, it was wonderful. The cruise was on a catamaran that had two decks, both with enclosed glass sections with seating, and outside areas where you could go and take pictures or just enjoy the brisk (and soggy) air. The tour took 2.5 hours to get out to Misty Fjords monument, and we were there for about an hour or so, and then it was the same distance back. The weather was very misty indeed, and it was raining much of the trip. The mist lifted a bit when we actually got to the fjords, which was ironic, and we saw some lovely scenery. When I got back, I found that my stateroom attendants had drawn a lovely bubble bath and sprinkled rose petals on the floor and in the bathtub. What a lovely surprise that was, and it made warming up from being out in the cold so very nice. I attended a lecture from the person who is in charge of the excursions we do from the ship (zodiacs, kayaks, etc) about earthquakes and vulcanism. It was very interesting, and clearly a passion of his. I also attended Afternoon Tea, which was really well done. I show the menu they offered explaining all the tidbits you would be served, as well as an extensive tea list from which to choose. Dinner was in the club, where they serve sushi several hours during the evening. The sushi was delicious. I have an early morning again tomorrow, so I turned in fairly early to try and be coherent in the morning.
