About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Description↓
There were several options for excursions from Livorno: Florence on your own; Florence & Pisa Tours and, our choice, a guided tour of Florence. Not having been before, we wanted to make the most of the opportunity to see one city well, rather than two not so well, and reviews of the two-centre tour suggested it could feel rushed and give little time for a lunch break. We think we made the right choice because we had plenty of time after the tour to have lunch and explore as we made our way back to the Piazza Santo Spirito, where we began and ended the day. The Piazza was an ideal focus point because it has seats, shade and, most important, public toilets. PLEASE NOTE: buses drop you off some distance away from the city centre and the streets from there to the Piazza San Spirito we very difficult for anyone who had trouble walking. People with rollators really struggled with the roughly-paved streets and pavements.
