We've just watched a fantastic performance by CC Monsoon. It was fantastic. She had a standing ovation. It was incredible.

We're finding it inconsistent wine and we don't actually know what we're ordering anymore.

Creator's Tips & Advice

The land train in Ajaccio is a fun and relaxing way to see the sights without fuss.
If you want to avoid the heat, sit outside at the bar rather than inside the dining venues.

YouTube Video Description

Join us for Episode 3 of our Marella Discovery 2 Highlights of the Med Cruise series, where we explore the beautiful port of Ajaccio, enjoy a sun‑soaked sea day, tuck into delicious food onboard, and finish the evening with a fabulous performance by CeCe Monsoon. We start the morning at The Glass House, Marella’s relaxed, almost‑alfresco venue serving breakfast from 7–10am. After a quick peek out onto the prom deck, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast while watching a very enthusiastic window cleaner at work — always a bit of entertainment before heading ashore! With spectacular weather and crystal‑clear views across the harbour, we wandered along the waterfront, admired the stunning Royal Clipper, and grabbed a selfie in front of this beautiful sailing ship. Spotting a land train, we hopped aboard for a fun and fuss‑free way to explore Ajaccio’s highlights. Our tour included the Napoleon Monument in Austerlitz Square, complete with its bronze statue and sloping wall of achievements, plus a glimpse of Napoleon’s childhood cave. The audio guide kept us entertained with local stories — including pointing out the orange trees lining the streets. Further along the seafront, we passed a striking cemetery filled with ornate family crypts and elegant tombs — sombre yet genuinely beautiful. At the furthest point of our route, we reached the Genoese Towers, impressive 16th‑century coastal defences built by the Republic of Genoa. Standing here, you really feel the history woven into this coastline. Back in town, hunger called — so naturally, we headed straight to The Snack Shack for a bite to eat before sailaway. At 4pm, Marella Discovery 2 departed Ajaccio, following Marella Explorer and the Royal Clipper out of port. As we headed towards Civitavecchia (“CHEE‑vee‑tah‑VEC‑kya”), Discovery 2 overtook the Royal Clipper, giving us one last magical view of her under sail. After a relaxing afternoon by the pool, we got ready for the evening and enjoyed snapping a few photos with the gorgeous sea backdrop. Dinner tonight was at Kora La, Marella’s pan‑Asian speciality restaurant (£32.95pp), where we enjoyed another fantastic meal before heading to the Broadway Show Lounge to see CeCe Monsoon — always a highlight onboard.
