Content Today we are in Flåm a small picturesque village in southwestern Norway, located at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the famous Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord. It is known for its dramatic scenery, steep mountain landscapes, and fjord views. It is the second time we have been here and we enjoy the cruise in and out. as much as we enjoy the village itself. There is a small Railway museum here that we enjoy visiting, it chronicles the history and construction of the Flåm Railway with exhibits and museum dummies. The railway is one of the world's steepest, most scenic train journeys, covering a 12 mile route between Flåm and Myrdal. The train ride includes views of waterfalls, steep valleys, and mountain slopes. The museum also delves into how the railway transformed life in Flåm, which was originally a small, remote village with limited access to other parts of Norway. The Flåm Railway opened up the region to tourism and commerce. In common with a lot of Norway there is a focus in the area on outside activities with hiking, kayaking and wild water swimming being common pastimes. The location also means that there are a couple of small harbours, used by ferries, private boat owners and adventure companies with Rigid Inflatable Boats {RIB) that can take tourists close up to the Fjords. Flåm is known for promoting sustainable tourism, with electric ferries for quieter and more environmentally friendly fjord cruises. The village works hard to preserve its natural beauty for future generations. We take the Flåm Tourist Trail around the headline, it offers a lovely walk and exploration of the stunning natural beauty surrounding Flåm..
