When you do your calculation of whether or not the drink package is worth it to you, there's one very important thing to keep in mind and consider in your calculation.

If you have an itinerary that has a bunch of sea days and you're stuck on the ship all day long, you're going to make much more use of your drink package.

If you have an itinerary that's port day after port day and you're out in port and you're not even on the ship at all to enjoy the drink package, it may not be worth it.

Carnival and Holland America are two examples where you cannot use the drink package on their private islands.
